'52 Chevy 3600: Picking a rear-end

I have a 52 Chevy 3600 p/u I'm working on and I put a wanted ad on the local website for a rear end. I asked for a 60" wide rear end from certain years of Novas, Chevelles, and Camaros (I listed the applicable years) and here is what I got as a response:

*yes I have a 64-67 ratio is 3:07 I think Chevelle 5 x 4.75. ratios are 2:73 and 3:08 and a few 68-72 10 bolt chevelle, I also have a 68-72 12 bolt posi 3:73.*

I would like some input on which I should chose. They all should be 5x4.75' and it will be behind a 292 L6 and a Saginaw 4 spd (most likely). My first inkling was to go with the 12 bolt posi but I'm not sure. Can someone with a little bit more knowledge help me in the right direction? This is my first build and it's going to be used as a driver/cruiser with grunt (probably won't take it over 80 mph). BTW he only wants $75 each. Thanks in advance.

-Greg

The '64 to '67 Chevelle rear end is 60 inches wide. The '64 has different splines on the axles, so you might want to go with '65 to '67. You don't need the 12 bolt with a I6 engine.

You don't need to go with anything larger than a 10 bolt with an inline 6. This truck has a '78 Firebird 10 bolt, 3.08 posi rear in it that I picked up at a swap meet for $100 and it sits behind a Chrysler hemi. Fits perfectly and is a 4.75 bolt pattern.

Hi I don't know how far you are from me but I am looking for a 12 bolt posi 3:73 for my 1967 Camaro. Is there any way that I can see the add for the 3:73 so I can give them a call if close enough. Thanks and good luck with your build.

That rear end is not in an ad. It was actually in a reply to my "WANTED" ad. He is located here in North Dakota though.

Thanks for the reply Graig. I think North Dakota is just a little far from Pittsburgh Pa. Take care and keep building. Chuck
