I have recently purchased a 1952-53 Mercury Flathead V8, which I will be putting in a 30-31 Model A Tudor Sedan. I am interested in finding out what successes or failures people have had with Flatheads and what modifications seem to have the best outcomes. I plan to fully balance the engine, put a dual or triple carb setup on it, Isky cam, Aluminum high compresssion heads, port and relieve the block and use high performance exhaust. If anyone has any suggestions on what they have had the best success with your input would be appreciated.
Thanks Brian |

I mentioned in a previous thread, a book by a man named Frank Oddo, called; "Ford Flathead V-8 Builders Handbook 1932-1953".
It is a very comprehensive book and well worth the $20. It is published by Fisher Books. I got a copy of it even though I havent been around flatheads for a kazillion years; lots of good pix, too. |
