53 Chrysler Rear End Swap

I have a 53 Chrysler that needs a new rearend. I want to switch to a newer axle but I'm not sure what would fit. I was told at a car show that an axle out of an old Dodge Econo Van would fit but I'm not really sure the guy was creditable. So any help would be be appreciated. It's a 53 Chrysler that's all stock, it still has the original tranny and the original 331 Hemi.
Thanks Bryan

re: 53 Chrysler Rear End Swap

Measure the distance from backing plate to backing plate (wheels off drum surface to drum surface where the wheels mount) and head off to your local wrecking yard to find a suitable replacement. OR you can get the measurement and one of us can look up what cars will have rears that will fit.

Your choice.
