54 Chevy

So i am doing some car shopping and i cam across this ad.
54 2 dr chevy for sale $2,000

I called the guy and he knew nothing about the car, he said Its not a bel air and i asked him what is was he said he had no clue???
I asked, if u had to guess what it most resembled, he couldnt answer me.

Sounds like a real old man. He said his friend sold it to him.

What could this car be? He had no pics, no email nothing.

Kindof far drive to JUST check out but it may be what i want.

He said the body has mild rust but the floor pans need to be changed, this sounds weird as hell to me? But it may be exactly what i want at the same time.

While it could be a 150, chances are it is a 210. The 210 2 door sedan was the most plentiful of all the two doors. The 210 coupe production figures nearly match the BelAir coupe figures.

Damn, i totally forgot about the 210's. I haven't seen one of those in a while. I got all caught up in Fords that i forgot alot of my chevy facts

So are these body styles the most commonly, chopped, shaved e.t.c = turned into mean street rods?

Any of the two doors make great rods. Not bad as is. Chop nicely. The 53's and 54's differ primarily in trim. I think the 53 grill looks better, but the 54 tail lights are the only way to go (of course, this is only my opinion, but I assure you that it is correct )

wow that was a big help. Frekaing chevy guys think their cars are worth gold. i confirmed that he was asking for $2,200

That price is ridiculous. He seems like he is in no rush to sell.
The body has rust, floor pans need to be changed. cars doesn't run. needs new tires just to roll the dam thing. missing some glass and some interior.
I am goign to watch that one on ebay to show him what a better condition car sells for. And if the price of that goes up, Ill photoshop the ad to be in my favor

Ill let everyone know.

Yeah, they basically just differ in trim like the grille, bumpers and tail-lights. While a 2-door is cool I don't see any problem with a 4-door. You even had 4-door Bel Air's too.

I feel that both grilles look equally good but still like the 53 tail-lights. I can't understand why most who build a 53 change the lights to 54. The 53 lights make the rear. But then, maybe I'm just biased because I'm building a 53 210 4-door myself.

Attached are two pics I sourced from http://carnut.com/photo/list/list.html displaying some differences.

Just hang in there, I shopped for a car for 2-3 years now and just recently found what I wanted, an old 1/2 truck and I got it at a pretty good price too.
Keep looking. Sometimes its worth spending a bit more money and get a solid start, not a piece of rust that needs everything but was cheap.

As often as i say that i am not in a rush, i still wanna go and pick every cay up that i see.

if i find a deal good i would hop on it, but some of these prices are just too high for the work involved.

to me I would rather buy a $4,000 car that has been well taken car of over a $2,000 car that needs alot of work.

thanks guys, I love the look of these chevy's

if you can buy a old car for 4000 that does not need work, you better buy it

UPDATE on a new find

I am letting the guy with the 54 wait for me to call him. Just kindof playing games

I found a 54 bel air, 4 door. Chopped 4 inchs. cadillac tail lights, 56 bel air grill. primered. Just needs interior work.

Bad thing:
4 DOOR
6 cyclinder engine and 3 speed manual transmission

$4,000 runs and ready to go. Mild rust on the floor pan on the pedal area. Going to go take pictures on Wednesday.
