~54" wide, 8.5" 10 bolt rear end question

Hello

I'm looking to add an ARB Air Locker or Eaton E-Locker to an ice racer.
The idea is having full traction on both wheels where traction permits, yet have a fully open differential in the turns.

I'm looking for a rear end roughly 54" wide. I found out that the 1984 Chevy S10 rear is 54" but I'm not sure that one came with the 8.5" RG. Can anyone help me with some applications so I can go to the Junk yard without having to remove the differential cover off of every diff that is skinny enough for me?

The S-series 8.5's were only available with the ZR2 off road package, and were actually 5 inches WIDER overall than the standard S-series 7.5/7.625 axles.

You would be better off getting an 8.8 Ford Explorer rear (98 and later had disc brakes), and were minimally wider than the 7.5/7.625.

Offset wheels can make up the difference and make it look just like stock in whatever you put it in.

Thanks M&M. I'm starting to think that width won't be a problem. I checked the ice race rules, and I'm allowed to flare the wheel wells 4" each side. So now I think all I need to do is source an axle that I can get an ARB locker in.
