ready to cut the c-notch but after i took off the rear bump stops
there is 3 holes and a indentation in the frame where i will cut ..
question is do i need to weld a piece of metal on the outside of the frame as well to cover the holes for extra strength ?

i recommend you go here and read some of the builds
The 1947 - 1959 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Message Board - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

what are you doing and what suspension setup are you using?
if your flipping an axle on top of stock springs you'll need more c-notch... ask me how i know
and yes you'll need to add reinforcing by boxing the frame and adding extra on top of the frame
this is my 58 truk with a 3'' c-notch, i had to go with air shocks to keep off the new bump stops
i recommend at least a 5'' c-notch if your on stock springs

going to a 5'' c-notch you'll have to add some frame
