55-59 Chevy truck

The 16 gallon tank from a 67-68 Mustang would fit. It is not too wide but you will have to fabricate a support frame to catch the mounting flange. You would also have to address the sending unit ohm range difference between GM and Ford fuel gauges. Solution there is to use an aftermarket sending unit that you would mount to the top of the tank prior to installing. You could use the original pickup/sending unit for the fuel line. You can find this tank listed on ebay as a kit sometimes. The dimensions of the tank is usually included.

I was using a 67-69 Camaro tank in my 54 but just changed it out to a Tanks, Inc. universal tank to get more clearance for my pipes. It is a good option for your application also. Got mine through JPL with free shipping.

Thanks, I will look into this. Maybe I can route a filler opening behind the license plate.

it is 31 gallons and fits between the frame rails behind the axle (where the spare tire is)
