The '65 in my journal is a side project of mine. Nothing to look at, really.
I have a '74 long bed that I'm building also. How in the heck did you know of this one? I don't remember posting many pics of that one. I mean, yeah I'll share some pics and ideas. Maybe I can start a 73-87 thread... Whatever works. I'd hate to SPAM this great thread. ![]() Better yet, it would be neato if we could have journal sub-folders under our main user name folder in the journals section... Hint Hint Jon. |

When I get closer to paint, I will start doing journal entries on it. Right now it's setting covered up with dust and misc. parts in the bed! There's a few other guys on HR that tinker with the 73-87 too. I wonder if a 73-87 thread would take off? |

Well, '73-80 has the 'old nose'. Then '81-87 has the tapered nose. All in all the same thing.
87-91 body style was blazer and suburban. Same nose as 81-87 trucks, thats it. Edit: And front doors. Last edited by C-10; 01-16-2010 at 02:39 PM. Reason: ...and front doors |

for cazadores
there are numerous forums specificaly for old chevy trucks;
old-chevy-trucks is in yahoo groups (they're strictly restoration, no mods), oletrucks is a majordomo forum and old-chevy-and-gmc-trucks is a yahoo forum both of these are mod or restore. buy a factory assembly manual, it will be your best friend, brothers has it as do a lot of vendors if you haven't figured it out yet, 55-59 is the same truck with different sheetmetal on the front end, of coarse i'm partial to 58-59 quad headlights what are your plans? restore, minor updates or custom? welcome to hotrodders |

One of the plugs got cut off(c100) gonna have to trace out wires to repair cause there are multiple wires that are the same color. ![]() Interior wiring harrness mockup, steering column mock up to determine column drop distance, gonna have to mount the seats to get drop where I want it. ![]() Column has been modified to accept '57 steering wheel and '57 wheel has been modified to accept column. Sawed off about a quarter inch of the outer column case with a hack saw & filed smooth. Had to hone out tapered seat in wheel to match shaft taper better, splines are the same. Got to remove all the air bag junk from the column. Oh, Its real dusty but I restored the steering wheel with JB weld. All inner and outer spokes where cracked, filled,shaped,filed, sanded then painted with vinyl paint. ![]() More later, olnolan |

Man You Ain't Never Lied
Gene, I got more wires than Carters got liver pills. I could pull the harness apart a eliminate some, but what the hell least I will have some spare circuits to work with. I'm gonna do a/c and such but I've got power window circuits & a power driver seat circuit. Heres a pic of the original harness;
![]() Gotta give credit to a wife who will give me the old quilts out of the house to cover my engines. Haa |
