Gator A half dozen 2x4 s across the frame rails or a set of loading ramps for a 4 wheeler would hold the weight safely. That sounds like a sweet deal on the cross member

I'll have to ge with you guys to figure out what angle the engine and tranny should be.

Thanks for the tip on Harmons

general rule that i learned is tilt your engine 2 degrees down towards the rear and your rear dif 2 degrees upwards.

Hey Guys
Been working on getting the bed to tilt. Made up some brackets out of some 3/16 steel plate. I'm going to build a frame out of some 1x2 14 gauge rectangle steel for the bed to attach to. Need to see if I can get an actuator strong enough to lift the bed.

Hey everybody. I have a '59 Apache shortbed stepside, just got back on hotrodders after a real long time and found this huge thread. Doubledick you'll probably remember be, i'm the kid you sent those sway bar pics to. Thanks for that advice, i made mounts in metals shop at school, and of course the bar does help plenty. The truck has been my driver to school and back daily until recently. At the moment we're in the middle of putting in a Muncie 4 speed, and I figured id ask anybody if they have done this in their truck(s). Im gonna have to cut the floor some for the shifter, and probably find some bucket seats out of something to put in the truck, because of where the shifter is. I hate to cut the floor any, because it is almost rust-free and its real solid, but after going almost broke buying the trans, shifter, etc., I'm not going to change my mind now. If anybody has done this before, I would really appreciate any input. Thanks in advance.
-Matt

Hey guys...sorry for being MIA. But work is busy right now. But...at lunch today I was reading the easy ad and saw an ad for 55-57 truck parts. I am looking for a hood so I call the guy, real nice fellow and he has a hood at a good price. So Saturday I'm gonna go get it. Well he says if I don't like that one he has several more...in fact a barn full of truck parts and 4 55-57 trucks! So if anyone needs me to be on the look out for something let me know before Saturday 4-28-07. I'll bring my camera and take pics if you want.

Later,
gator
