Have any of you guys used or know anyone that has use one of the after market electronic transmission controllers for a 4L80E transmission
There seems to be about 3 main brands but I would like to find out from those that have used them which is better and if there were any issues and what inputs you need for the controller (tps, map or output shaft speed)

Just checking out this thread and hopfully one of you can help me with my little problem... Trying to do a vin search to try and find out exactly what this truck I'm working on is. I've gone to three different sites and every vin search has given me different results. As far as I know, its a 55 second series GMC, but I've also been told that its a 56. Here is my listed vin... 152PY5687 Any positive redirection would help. It would just help alot on my hunt for parts that no longer exist... An help is much appreciated!!!

if there was an eight next it would be an eight cyl. engine. But there wasn't an 8 so it is a 6 cyl. P= Pontiac assembly plant, Y= 1955 second series, 5687 = the production number ( it was the 5,687 truck built that year) I got this info from LMC truck.and they are a great vendor! I have a truck just like your except it was built in LA. There are a ton of parts for that truck...you can almost rebuild the whole truck with aftermarket parts. Hope this helps...James |

'55 - '56 chev pu diff
Come on guys and gals!! Where's the first place we all used to look to identify a particular model?? The hood ornament, of course. And, that's how you tell the diff between a '55 series 2 and a '56. Look closely and you will see that the wings on the '55 extend out from the UPPER sides of the hood ornament while the wings on the '56 extend out of the lower sides of the ornament. That's the difference and the main reason why the hood ornaments on these particular models are often the wrong ones.
PS: I know I'm on the wrong thread but I can't locate the thread (guy) that was asking for this info. |
