55 chevy mufflers - not too loud - recommendations?
bought a 55 with very very loud exhaust system from Dynaflow? I would like to have a much much more quiet ride. The 55 has a 350 engine with a "mild cam". any suggestions?

Yep. Go with Turbo Mufflers. Not only are they cheap, but they'll give it a deep tone at idle with acceptable loudness and are quiet at cruise.

if you want nice and very quiet, i would go with one of the bigger magnaflows

I had Walker turbos on my camaro back in high school. It had a really odd resonance or drone at part throttle. It may have been a placement issue Your Mileage May Vary as they say.
Do you have tail pipes that go over the axle? Do you have a balance pipe? My dad has cherrybombs on his 55 and he loves em. I hated em until all the packing fell apart. Walker and Heartthrob both make good quality turbo mufflers |
i agree with DV, the dynomax turbo mufflers are pretty nice
here: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-17733/ not sure what size pipe you have. |
the tail pipes I think are 2.5,go over axil, r connected
the tail pipes are connected with the same size pipe.. before the mufflers

I had to get hearing aids last year....The noise from my truck affected them (causes feedback)....I ended up putting a pair of stock NAPA mufflers on it. I work at NAPA so I could go into the muffler room and measure what I wanted. Ended up with a 23" muffler with 2 1/4 inlet and outlet....Nice and quiet. The parts guy said they can look up sizes, so they can match what you need
Also, if you put a balance pipe in your system it tends to quiet things down. |

Then the mufflers I listed would be the right ones |
