55 Ford Car Engine Swap

Found two nice Customline Fords. They both have 6 Cylinders. One has an automatic the other a 3-speed. I want to put in a V-8. If I use a 272, 292, or a 312 Ford, Is this an easy swap? How about motor mounts and front crossmember? Will the V-8 bolt up to the automatic and the stick from a 6 cylinder car?

If I can't locate the Ford motors, how about a small block Chevy/Turbo 350 swap. Do they make mounts for this swap? Is there welding involved?

I want to build a rat-rod to cruise when I'm not showing my Sweet-34. All input would be greatly appreciated. Maybe you know of a Customline with a V-8 For Sale!!!!

Thanks...............Sweet-34

The Y-BLOCK is a bolt-in. The manual six cylinder 3/S is a light duty and may not hold up to a 312. The automatic will fit with correct bellhousing, etc.
