55 stuck in reverse-any ideas

Took the truck down the backyard to dump the body..I backed in and it's stuck in reverse now

55 3/4 ton4 speed on the floor-original

Any tricks to get this out of reverse?

Can you rock it with pressure on the shifter (engine off), maybe by bumping the starter? Sounds like you may be on an incline and the clutch isn't completely releasing...

Worn shifter linkage. Sometimes goofing with the shifter will free it

Geeze the tranny's only 52 years old..

Well it's fixed for now..took an axe...sounds
scarey huh? And tapped the shifter 3 times with
the bunt end and in moved to neutral..Seems it
needs a jolt rather than a lot of steady pressure..
Guess I'll throw a new tanny on project list..might
be a good excuse to go automatic?
