555 Tons of Iraqi Yellow Cake Being Processed in Canada

A friend send me a copy of a UPI article on 550 tons of Iraqi Yellow Cake (Uranium) being processed through Canadian ports. Supposedly, the US negotiated this deal. We found no weapons of mass destruction, but where did all this stuff come from, what was it for, and why has it not been all over the news? Maybe some of our Northern members shed some light on this.

Do you remember all that nuke material that arrived here from Iraq right after the invasion? When I say right here I mean here in our backyard! It was brought into McGee Tyson and then transported to Oak ridge where it is today, I can almost see the stuff from where I am. Ole Sadammy had all kinds of nasty stuff over there and it was not there for electrical generating purposes! No doubt he was up to no good and it is a good thing he is gone I just hope the cost to remove him turns out to be worth it. There seems to be two sides to the debate, those who think he was near building a bomb and other WMDs and those who think it was all just a big lie. Apparently it was neither as bad as it was told nor as benign as some would have us believe. The fact is it was not ALL just a big lie and quite a bit of it was true but so much BS was told along with the truth that it all seems to have lost it's creditability. This is very dangerous because it gives the "all a big lie" crowd a lot of creditability when they are clearly wrong and makes it much harder to convince the public when the threat becomes more real. I guess you could say that Bush and his cronies are guilty of crying wolf and now that we are facing a more real threat from Iran no one will believe him.

Oldred, that is news to me and I thought I kept up with things pretty good. My brother is retired from ORNL and still does consulting work for them on Hazardous Waste Disposal and not a word about anything coming from Iraq. People that are around 50 years from now may get the declassified truth about the events in Iraq and I suspect it would debunk a lot of news media speculation we have been exposed to.

It was big news when it happened, no secret at all, TV coverage and everything. I think all of the Iraqi nuke research equipment and a lot of the hazardous nuke material wound up here. I remember a big truck convoy on I-75 right after they started unloading that stuff in Knoxville, yep it's true it's there alright! I will do a quick search and see what I can find on it.

Edit--Well I screwed that one up, it was LIBYAN nuke parts and material, not Iraqi! That was Kadafi's junk not Saddam's that was brought over here, don't know what I was thinking. I stated to do a Google search and it hit me when I started to type in the search terms that it was Libya and not Iraq. Sorry about that!

I read about this stuff in the paper last week,, it has been kept under wraps for a long time,, and was stored at some secret base out in the middle of the ocean,, where they have been secretely sending those jerks from Guantanamo bay,, Iraq finally nigotiated with Canada to buy it,, at least thats what the media wants us to believe,,, or it could be something else complety different,,, but they did call it Yellow Cake,,,,

Bad Rat, that link was an interesting read. Talk about b'crats running amok and cats covering up scat!!! Our news media would make themselves look like the fools they are to report anything about the existence of "Yellow Cake", high grade enriched Urainium that is mostly for weapons being found in Iraq so they are remaining silent in this case. My wife was listening to CSPAM this morning when they were interviewing one of our lusterless politicians and there were a couple of call ins inquiring about the Canadian reception of the Yellow Cake and the questions were totally ignored as if they did not happen. Most interesting!!! Who is covering up what??

When they first went over there and didn't find anything right off the bat THAT was news but when they do find something you will be lucky to hear about it!

There is a yellow cake processing mill about two miles from my house(Cotter Corporation). What makes it bad is the NRC gave them their license back about two years ago so they can start up again. They never rectified the ground water pollution they caused on the south side of town, so what does the state, county and feds do.....they give them their license back. What makes it even worse to live around here now is the Fremont County commissioners gave the go ahead for a Australian Company to explore for Uranium, mine it and have it processed at good old Cotter Corporation. Its not bad enough this is prison city USA,around 13 prisons here. Now they want to irradiate and pollute it more than it is with more uranium mining and yellow cake processing.
