56 buick front end

Hi all. I have a 56 Buick Special. I had easy access to a 75 Nova subframe assembly. First measurements show the out to out frame rail dim's on the nova are 37" and my special is about 34.5". Anybody have any experience with adapting something like this. If you're willing to drop some advice I'd love to here it.

Thanks
Dan

It can be done but it requires a side step on the frame where the two join, and if it's not exact you will have alignment problems forever.,,You might consider getting a Kanters catalog http://www.kanter.com/ and rebuild the stock suspension and if you want to lower it I think Fatmans Fabrication http://www.fatmanfab.com/ has dropped spindles.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking there may be a problem once I started measuring. Any idea how different the motor mount setup is from the nailhead compared to a small block chevy? I would like to use something other than the dynaflow trans that's in there right now.

Seen a subframe swap in a '57 Buick and they couldn't use the Chev mounts because the radiator support was moved back to fit the Buick body, so they engine mounts will probably have to be fabricated any way you choose to go.
