Just be sure to match the trans lever, to the shifter lever, center-to-center length, or at least have the geometry correct (1:1, 2:1, etc), then fab up the correct detents for the shifter to match the trans so it works smoothly. I've seen these Mustang/Pinto type floor shifters used for many different installs.
