Post 56 chevy 1/2 ton rear leaf springs

Does anybody know an inexpensive why to lower the rear end about 4"? Is there any places that sell complete kits w/springs,hangers,
shackles and all the hardwear? Is there shackles that would lower it that much? What if i made a set of shackles, do you think they would bind. Dont really wanna c notch the frame would i have to do it if i went down 4"
Its a 56 chevy 1/2 short bed. Coil overs are a little out of my budget unless i could get a coil over 4 link setup for about 500 bucks.

Cool

The easiest and cheapest way to lower the rear 4" would be to flip the axle pads so that the axle sits on top of the springs. You can get the new spring perches from Speedway or lots of other suppliers for under $50. You will have to replace the shocks or make extensions for them.

Do you have to notch the frame when you flip the axle pads so you have enough travel? I'm looking to get about the same drop out of my '57 3100.

I would be suprised if you didn't dropping it 4 inches. But it's still alot easier and cheaper than finding an after market for you application.
