56 Chevy Pickup Grill swap
Hi, I'm Hairy and I'm new to the forum.
This seems like the place to be judging from all I've read so far. I am trying to buy a 57 Chevy Pickup, and I have always loved the 55/56 grill. Does anyone know if the grill from a 55/56 Chevy Pickup be swapped into the place of the 57 grill without a lot of trouble? I appreciate any info I could get. Thanks, Hairy

Swapping grilles is easy. All you have to do is weld up two holes in the 57 fenders and buy an upper grille bar for a 55-56. That's the bar that goes between the fenders above the grille. After that it's nuts and bolts. Watch out for hobo reproduction grilles, some don't fit very good, and leave gaps on the ends. Good luck

It will bolt in except for one problem. There is a flat spot on the front of the fenders that has to be fixed. It is kindof ugly because there is a fat section in the fender on the flat spot. I did the swap on the truck in my album and just fiberglassed the spot on the fenders. It has lasted 10 years, but I would have probably used metal if I did it again.
