56' Chevy Rear Bumper Question

Hey- I'm new here and am a novice in the world of hot rods as well. I need a rear bumper for a 56' Chevy Bel Air 2-door to replace the original. I want to get the license plate off the trunk and onto the bumper. I have been told that the Chevy station wagon bumper 1955-1957 has a recessed license plate and it will work. I am having a terrible time finding one anywhere. Is there another bumper that anyone knows of that could work without major modification? It doesn't have to be a Chevy part. I'd really appreciate any information. Thanks.

As far as I can remember, the 56 wagon/nomad bumper is the only one which will fit without modification. Danchuck only lists the 55 nomad bumper. I am not sure if it would fit and look right. If your metal working skills are good, you could recess the plate similar to the way the wagon bumper does and have it re-chromed. Problem is, the SW bumper guards with the light provision aren't available either.
