56 chevy truck front springs

i have a 56 chevy truck, with a camaro front clip. the car is very soft when you bounce the front. i can spring the front up and down a good 8 inches by hand. shockers are working fine.but the springs seem way to light. they have lifter knuckles between two coils. what spring would you recommend and where can i get them. i from the uk so a large international company would be great.could i use stock camaro and cut them down

Brit,

I'd look for a new set of Moog springs for whatever year Camaro clip you have. Cut a coil or 2 off to get the ride height that you want. Sounds like your springs are wrong for that clip, or just plain tired. The fact that you have lift knuckles tells me the springs might be tired, and were given a "boost" with those knuckles.

Yes...if there are spacers, the springs are beat..........I would still question the shocks too if you can bounce it that easy.

It sounds like someone has put light weight springs in it. Possibly drag car springs. I have to agree with Poncho in that I really question the condition of the shocks. If you quickly put weight on the bumper and back off the front end shouldn't bounce more than once or twice at the most before coming to rest.
