Hey there, was wondering if anyone out there could answer this one for me. I bought a 56 Chevy sedan. No hood was on the car. The guy I bought it from (a friend) had an extra hood and threw it in. I drove all last year without it and would like to put it on. However, when I tried to line it all up, the front fenders were'nt wide enuff. I had noticed that the upper support bar was straight at the ends and that was keeping the hood from closing. I know the tri-fives have differant core supports because of the way the fenders are a little differant on each year. My question, is the core support on a 56 supose to be angled or straight on the ends where it mounts to the fenders? I want to buy the right one, but not sure which one that is. Sounds like you might just have a 55 support in your 56. The top bar on the 55 core support is straight to where the 56 and 57 have a curve at the ends. Each one is different though. Might be wrong, but that's what it sounds like.

Thats what I was thinking as well. Someone tried putting some washers behind the bar ends, but it just doesnt work.
