56 Olds Rear End Tear Down

I have a rear axle from a 56 Olds that has a stuck center section. The wheels turn when there is no load on them but it will not turn with the weight of the car on them.

I have pulled the axle assy out and would like to remove the center section to see/fix the problem.

What is the process for removing the center section? It appears the axles have to come out first. How do the axles come out?

The axles are held in with four bols on the housing at the brake backing plate.Remove them and the axle slides out.
After axles are out then remove the diff.gears.

I just got a job today changing the 3rd member in a 56 Olds. He has a junkyard one that I need to pull apart and check over, then install. Thanks for the info on where to get parts.
