That body is in great shape. Spending at least some it's life in California helped.

How'd he do dat?

Hey, Conrad:

I'm not a Mopar guy, but thought I'd tackle this ident myself -- just for fun. I'm not questioning your calling it a '58, but I'm wonderin' how you distinguished it from a '57. From what I've seen, styling differences from the two years were all in the front (which we don't see) and some trim stuff.
What do you see that eliminates it being a '57?

thanks.

Mike,
I don't know if it's a 57 or 58, from what I can tell by looking at pics on the net, could be either year..
@Conrad, yes, we are going to clean it up and sell, this one will not be cheap to restore, I'm guessing above 50k..

Nice find, Sheldon! Not a whole lot of them left. Where did you find it, locally? I heard at our car club meeting a couple of Fresnos old yards are closing.

Whatever happened with the 55? Did anyone ever buy it? Dan

From the pictures I would say it's probably a 57. The insert pannel in the fins (above the taillights) has the red reflector in it. As far as I know with the exception of a few early production 58s the reflector was deleted in 58.

Probably the best way to tell is the inside reqr view mirror. On the 57s it is up by the windshield base fits into the 2 lower windshield garnish moldings. On the 58s the mirror is mounted on the top of the dash towards the rear edge.

Cool car-But Chryslers are tough to restore.I once bought a '62 Crown Imperial Convertible. 413,push button, white leather, all options. Couldn't find ANY parts period. After a year of looking I traded it.New owner had the same problem. A year later the car burned to the rims...

@Dinger, I found it in Sanger, a friend has the conservator ship to the property, with bills due to the state. I'm trying to work a deal on 5 other vehicles out there, should know on monday...One is a 46-ish Studebaker truck, which would make a nice hot rod, all there including tailgate. The other one I want ia a 61 Olds, has the manual and metal delivery tags still in the glove box, not to mention the motor!
Nobody bought the 55, I did sell the 59 Ranchero to a guy in Germany, it leaves for a container on Tuesday...

57 dodge

Hi!
Sorry for the late post on this car, but I just saw it and just joined so I could post. This car is a 1957 Dodge Coronet Convertible. It is not a hemi powered car as they had a D 501 emblem on the right side of the trunk lid. It is most likely a base engine car with the 325 engine. The other optional engine is the D500 which would also have an emblem at the same location on the trunk lid.
This would be a beautiful car completed and is my dream car. I currently have a 57 Dodge Royal 2 door hardtop which is very similar to this car, only in a 2 door hardtop version.
Scott

The op was last here in 2010.
Now that you're here scooter why don't you slide over to the 'Introduce Yourself' section of the lounge and post some pics of your car.
