'57 Chevy Short Bed PU

Anyone put a small block x-member (Classic Industries) in a 57 PU? Didn't like the front motor mounts so opted for this adapter. Any insights would be appreciated.

what trans are you using? stock with side mounts on the bell housing or a newer trans with the rear trans mount?

Rear Mount

I'm using the powerglide out of my 64 Chevelle with the rear mount, which is the main reason I went with the crossmember motor mount setup instead of the front mount conversion, actually the stock 57 V8 mounts.

yes you need side mounts on the motor when you get rid of the bellhousing mounts.
motor mounts are the easiest project to fab up at minimal cost
the x-member your looking at will need trimming and welding to fit
you can fab up your own in the time it will take you to order those

my 58 has a mustII x-member, i fabbed these motor mounts out of 1.5 square tubing and used 68 truck mounts

these are on a subframed truck but if you have a stock frame just run another gusset to the bottom frame rail
my truck used a similar mount when it was a little more stock

Very nice fab on yours. I kept the 6 bolt lug pattern. It probably will cost me more in the end by the time I hang a booster, disc brake kit. I found a pretty reasonable kit / cross member and I'll take your advice and fab the tranny one. Thanks!

If you're hanging a booster on the firewall you'll need some extra bracing on the backside under the dash. The stock firewall is not very strong.
