57 Chevy Spring problem
Just installing new 3" lowering Super Slide rear springs on my 57 Nomad and I am having a heck of time getting the shackle thru both the spring eye and the hanger eye. I rotated the spring eye above the hanger and frame like I did to remove the old springs but the new spring is so close to the hanger that there is not enough room between them to slide the shackle thru both eyes at the same time. I tried a crowbar, moved axle up and down, still not enough space. Anyone else had this problem? Any and all help appreciated.
Dave B. Solved problem by swapping shackles side to side and entering the spring and hanger eyes from between the frame rails rather than outside. Not according to original design but the same results. Last edited by uskdab01; 12-01-2007 at 07:34 PM. |

Try getting shakles in before front spring bolts.
