You (and others) should enter their complaints on this site's -COMPANY REVIEWS (click here)- and hopefully the weight of this board can be brought to bear to give you (and the others) some type of relief.

Because of your sharing, I know they have lost one sale...

As I am a person that has had to pay for the same thing more than one several times on my 59 elky, I hate to suggest this.

Perhaps you should remove the box and have it inspected/repaired by someone that works on these.

I hav'nt a clue as to who you would go to, except perhaps the FE people you went to could suggest someone.

I'm sure this box has been modified for a ford (mine was slightly for the elky),
or perhaps you could go junking and pick one up at a yard to modify yourself, and test to see if you get the same results.

I am not extremely happy with my conversion either, as I ended up making my own mounting bracket to provide clearance for the sway bar. A year after that I noticed a notice that the 605 conversion would NOT work with the 706 sway bar---I made it work. On the upside--CPP is working on a box for my car that needs no mounting bracket and should work with the 706 Bar--- Probably gonna cost twice as much though.

Bryan

Repair of 605

No one in my area wants to get into a 605 box. I can't get parts very easy. Sure can't get any help or parts from GEARHEADS CRUISER PRODUCTS. So I have got out my card and ordered a rack. Anyone want a p/s setup for a 57 Ford ? Cheap!!!!!

There is a company in el monte california called Durex. I have bought a couple of boxes from them and sent them one to rebuild with custom innards.

They did a good job. (they are not the company that we dealt with in the thread about the box not returning to center)

You might send them the box and see if it is messed up.
Give them a call, the owners name is Tregg and he is extremely knowlegable and helpful. At least you could see if the box that gearheads sold you was trash or not.

Here is the website:
http://www.durexpowersteering.com/aboutus.html

They have a nifty tech tip page too.

later, mikey

update on r/p

I can't praise Wyrth r/p kit too much.Eazy to install, more so if your colume has been modified that other junky kit . Car drives wonderfull, very little turn of the wheel to move the car! You don't need preasure valve or a cooler?!!! Best of all Rick stands behind product and answers phone when you have question.Hardly wait for good weather. Now if I could get my money back.....
