572 with blower

I am putting a 8-71 on a 572, do the heads and block need to be machined to accept the rings style head gasket

Ring style head gasket? If you're referring to "O" ringing the block, which is not part of a head gasket, yes. Unless you're going to be running an obscene amount of boost, why do that?

Here's the scoop on copper gaskets used with o-rings....
Copper Gasket Tech
Counsel with your blower supplier guy about the need for o-rings.

I was reading on a head gasket that has a .050 wire incorporated in the gasket itself, so im not sure if it would still be considered "O" ringing the block, but if so that's fine, also plan on running no underdrive and producing about 12 to 15 lbs of boost

On a 572 I don't think it will make 12# of boost underdriven.

15 pounds of boost huh? What's your SCR? Even as low as 8.5:1, you realize your effective c.r. will be 17.8:1? You won't do it on 92 pump gas, even with meth injection you'd be pushing it.

To make 12.1 pounds of boost in a 540 motor you would need to overdrive an 8-71 30%, I'd estimate a 572 will require at least 40% overdriven to get 15 pounds. 1:1 in a 540 will make 6 pounds.

Are you building a tall deck or standard deck engine? (curious) a couple turbos would be nice and easier to hide

If you are going to under drive the blower then no need to o-ring,The cr will be under 14/1 and a good race gasket will work.Is you block,heads prepped for MLS gasket?

I would love to post pics but the engine is in process of being built, that's why im getting info now,

I spoke to a local builder but not a big supercharger kind of person, but he suggested to "O" ring the block with a high quality head gasket with an acceptance grove in the heads.

Pretty standard for high boost. May be a little overkill, may not.

Is this a street car? What type of fuel do you plan to run? An 8-71 on a 572ci engine and trying to make 12 to 15lbs of boost, you will need decent fuel.

No need to O-ring the heads or block. A MLS gasket will handle double that boost level. You may want to talk to a few other engine builders that have played with forced induction in the last 15 years. Unless this is a very high boost alcohol deal there is really no need to O-ring it.
