572R Oil Pressure

I have a 572R I purchased new and have run it in my race car trouble free for three years. The oil pressure stayed on zero the last time I cranked it. I have tried three gauges, all zero. It goes to 20 psi when first fired up, but only for 1-2 seconds and then zero. It normally runs 70 psi at 1400 RPM. Does anyone know where I can get an oil flow diagram for this motor, or any late model big block Chevy? Any ideas?

Was the distributor recently reinstalled? There might not be contact shaft to oil pump .

Do not run the engine any more till you have taken down the oil pan and verify that the oil pick up tube has not fallen/broke off. bearing damage etc. you already know it's not the gauge.Had the pick up break free on one my race engine years ago and it was expensive!!!!

Race car engine? 3 years trouble free? I'd say pull it and go through it! I build + race and go through them during the week to run the next week end let alone 3 years, You got a lot of life out of a race engine unless you haven't accumulated any hours on it over 3 yrs or 3 race seasons.

Put a mechanical gauge on it, and turn the oil pump by hand with a priming rod.

Three yrs of racing and not freshen up??. You owe alot more to it than it owes you.Time to get yer hands dirty.

Guys, it could be three years of just driving it on and off a trailer. I would pop the pan off though and check the pump, pickup, and bearings.
