it was a 4 door, some people did that in the old school, when they wanted a 2 door, it cool if you dont send a lot cash on it, it not worth what a real 2 door is, that my point. a lot of drag racer move the rear wheels forward in the 60s to transfeer weight.,that how funny cars stared.

Semi-popular in the late 70's and 80's. I've seen it done on 4 door sedans (what this one started out as) and 4 door wagons. You graft the window from from the rear door onto the front door. Cut the length of the door haves and the pillar out of the frame. This was before someone figured out you could turn a 4 door sedan into a convertible. Anyway, the rumor was the short wheelbase would turn them into a real wheelstander. BTW, this one started out as a 150 or 210 unless someone swapped out the fin trim. Most likely a 210.

That HAS to be the worst shortening job I have ever seen - 4 dr to 2 dr.
I've seen them done so you have to look twice, I have done a 59 Plymouth myslef, but it looked a little more..... "well thought out" than THAT!!!!
It's almost like the roof material was just overlapped.

What a hack job!
The front clip should be rescued for a proper project car and the rest crushed.

I'm not sure this really works on a '57 Chevy, but it might have potential on other cars.

I'm thinking maybe a 50s or 60s Caddy or Buick 4dr sedan - something with more body fore and aft of the passenger compartment.

Doing a better job on the roof would help a lot too, IMHO.

With the right car, it might work. If you could do it to a four-door hardtop, it would probably come out better too.

OTOH, I've often wondered if converting a 50s or 60s Chevy pickup into a modern-style 3-door or 4-door extended cab would be worth doing. Sort of the opposite of what this guy did...

Not only did the builder hack up the roof job, they also hacked up the rear quarter too. In the other pic it kinda looks like the wheel is too far forward in the wheel well also.

Later,
