58 Delpala update and question

Ok so here is where I am at. through much trial and error (read about 8 yards material in the trash) I think I got something I am totally happy with. I got the seat top done and the sides and front are done as well but not in the pictures.

Now for my question. I am going to attach the front/sides to the top with a premade welting, but it will not fit under my walking foot with the cord between the 2 pieces of material. Is there a special foot for that and will that foot also keep the cord in place? I am worried that it will "wander" out and then not be snug to the seam. Basically this is what I want to do with a pre made welting.

You can't sew welting with a flat bottomed presser foot, you need a 1/4" welt foot. The welt foot has a groove in it to accept the welt cord. Look at post #2 in this thread: CLICK HERE The foot to the far left is a 1/4" welt foot. The one next to it to the right is a presser foot.

OK thanks Dan. I am looking for a welt foot for my machine now. Next question is do you sew the welting to one piece first then join them together or leave it between the 2 pieces?

Really experienced sewers can sew two pieces of fabric and the welt together at the same time, but everybody else should sew the welt to one side and then sew the other side on.
