59 borrkwood(impala) motor mounts?

im getting my suspension together and will soon be dropping in a TBI 350/700r from a 91 chevy truck into my 1959 brookwood wagon and i need to know if i need new motor mount brackets on the engine crossmember or will the 6 banger mount brackets line up to 90 model motor mounts? the existing motor mount plates or brackets look like they will work if i use old style SBC mounts from 59 like the 283 mounts. or do i need to find some newer and fabricate/install them. anyone with experienced info on installing an SBC into a 1959 chevy car that originally was equipped with a 6 shooter is greatly appreciated. or knowledge of an aftermarket motor mount i can use. thanks ...

if the car had a v8 option then the truck motor mounts should be a bolt in, but i think you will need to use the mounts that came with the truck. there should be holes in the crossmember to locate them.

You will need the 58-64 frame mounts for a V-8
The standard V-8 mounts from that era will be the ones to use.

Actually----Go to AutoZone or PepBoys etc. and get a set of
Energy Suspension's short chevy V-8 mounts.

This is what I used to put a Gen VI 454 HO in my 59.
My only issue with the Rat was exhaust manifold clearance
to the upper control arm on the driver side.

Too tight for ANY tube header----Used Sanderson cast iron headers.

thanks for the info im going to checkout the energy suspension mounts at autozone and see if they are what im looking for. and i do have some truck mounts the metal "clams" as some call them but even they vary in mount holes from year to year and im really trying to go with a top notch build on this car instead of a ,, well one hole lines up ill just weld the other side... approach. i dread having to go junkyard crawlin for a set of mount brackets, i dont know if they are a one piece deal that could be had at the auto store or, if they are the type that install onto the bracket that bolts to the cross member. anyway ill be off to the parts store tomorrow and ill let you know what i end up with,, till then thanks for the info.........

Actually, I think there is a photo of a similar car in
The ElCamino Store's online photo gallery.

You will need the 58-64 Chevy car Frame Mounts

6 cyl and v8 frame mounts are different

Classic Industries has started reproducing these recently----about $60

looks like auto zone now carries the right motor mount, guess i should have checked first?! that elco looks like it has a bed cover? still looks cool i was thinkin with a back seat though. yours looks pretty slick and i like the new paint better than the blah red paint you got it with. mine is original blah blue. im thinkin of painting the wag white from the wings up, like 00+ caddy pearl white. and im not sure about the body. i was thinking brazen orange metallic from my dream late model car the GTO. or maybe a candy blue? ive always liked the 59s in a blue and white.... anyway i have yanked the control arms and have to take them to have the bushings pressed out and blasted. then i need to buy some POR-15 to coat them with and install them and the new disc brake kit i got from CPP so i can roll the boat up and drop in the motor. looks like ive got alot of work to do! later

Actually i had to buy the frame motor mount pieces, im trying to ad a pic of them. on 58-64 chevy cars the frame mount is engine specific, 348 BBC,283 SBC, or inline 6. since mine was originally a 6 shooter i bought these from a 62 283 car. the 283 mount will fit any first gen 58-95 small block with the exception of the earlier front mount sbc. they are grungy original pieces but im haveing everything except the frame itself powdercoated. i foujnd thius set for $25 on ebay. a great deal considering i didnt have to go to the junk yard and spend 2 hours breaking rusty bolts. hope this helps anyone else swapping from a 6 shooter to an SBC. later
