5spd, 290 Getrag??

this is what i have in my 91 gmc sierra 1500. i was told its a crappy transmission. my question is, will it be fine with 500hp? (ill have about 450-480 when im finished with my build)

if so i will rebuild it when i install the clutch $350 for the rebuild kit

Hi,
Your truck should have a Borg Warner 5 sped
the world-class transmissions are rated at 300 lbs.- ft.

gm never used a T5 in a fullsize. yes it would have a getrag 290 / NV3500 and no way it will hold that much power. 300 would be pushing it

well with that said whats a good direct upgrade? or is there one? i didnt want to modify my underside much more... its already bagged with a 4 link so you can imagine..

but ill do what i have to... i gotta have something that will spin the wheels with 550hp
