6.2/350 swap trans question

I have an 89 suburban with a 6.2 and od trans. The 6.2 is very tired so I want to replace it with an older carburated 350. Do I need to be worried about the electronics for the tranny?

Does the vehicle have the over drive 4 speed trans or the 3 speed trans?

You will need to change the diesel torque converter to a gas version for the proper stall speed rating

The trans would be a 4 speed over drive trans like a 700-r4 or a t-400 trans which is a 3 speed.

Best figure out what you have first.

What does the shifter indicator look like?

PRND21 or PRN-OD-D21 or PRND321 ?

Should be a TH700R4/4L60 Trans. As 'Crosley' said above, you'll need a Gas engine TC/TorqueConverter.
I'm not sure about the Trans wiring for the TC's Lockup clutch when going from Diesel to Gas engine. 'Crosley' may know what Sensors etc.. and if ECM controls Lockup with Diesel.
This shows Basic TCC plug wiring diagram>> http://www.hughesperformance.com/pdfs/HP700-R4.pdf

Thanks for the info. I plan on doing away with as much of the computer stuff as I can and just want to make sure the trans will still work right.
