6/53 blower conversion- help

Hi guys,

I'm modifying a 6/53 to suit a holden (aussie) 308 V8 and am having a little difficulty tracking down a snout and bearing plates. I have machined an intake manifold and carb adapter plate but i'm a little stumped on teh drive snout.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Sorry pal, I googled the chit out of 6-53 and found 2 blowers for sale, even one here on Hotrodders.com ........but both are missing exactly what you need.

I would email Vern Tardel. He has photos of some -53 blowers and some text on this page. He would be the best shot I could give you......

Thansk guys,

I've spent a fair amount of time wandering through google and have emailed vern a few times but with no response. i read an old thread on another site that stated Vern was going into production of drive snouts and bearing plates for a 6v53 to flathead so i'm sure they are out there. I also attempted to contact Rod Hadfield, a bit of an aussie legend as he had set up a 6v53 for a V12 Lincoln T but had no luck there either.

I've down loaded a few working drawings for drive snouts and bearing plates for a 6/71 and am starting to draw the conclusion that i'll have to knock them up myself!

I'll keep hunting for something but it looks like the challenge continues!!

Thanks again 327. It depends what they are offering as a package and bearing sizes etc. I use a local bearing supplier so it may be easier to buy in my home town and would save a little on postage as long as the size they are using is easily obtainable etc.

Thanks again for all your help- who needs customers anyway!

Well old son, I called twice today, no answer and still no return on the email I sent them. Me thinks they might be out of business. I'll try again next week.

No luck on my end trying to help. Since Vern was/is heavily into flatheads, I looked up the SCTA/BNI site and emailed Roy Creel. Asked him to have Vern Tardel or Mike Bishop email me back in reference to helping a mate find 6-53 parts. Don't know if anything will come of it, but we'll see.
