60 degree and 90 degree

ok well i know 60 degree is small pattern for some v-6 and 4 cyl and such and 90 degree is about any straight six and v-8 engine

but is this an actual degree RE of the bellhousing?

measurement?

ive always wondered about this.

or is it just a number/name not meaning much else other than large pattern and small pattern?

The reference is to the angle between cylinder banks of the V engines. It does not refer to anything about the form or shape of the bellhousing itself. your right about it simply meaning a difference between the large and small pattern.
