605 power steering Box.

currently have 605 steering box installed to Saginaw Pump/ reservoir. Pressure hose ruptured. drove car home without power steering. Need to know if ok to drive as is until new hose arrives. I have capped lines going to pump. Lines are still hooked up to box. just capped at other end. Would appreciate any input. Thanks.

You'll need to remove the Pump belt if you've capped the output/input lines. That pressure needs to go somewhere if the Pumps operating. I'm not sure if the Pressure Regulator Valve can bypass all the pressure back to the Reservoir.

605 steering box.

Pump is now removed from engine. 605 Steering box has both Return and Pressure lines attached but capped at ends. Can car be driven that way without damage to steering box? Is there any danger of steering going loose while driving? Thanks.

With them being capped it will be very hard to turn as it will try to push fluid out the return hose when you turn the steering wheel. It's vey hard to turn anyway when the pump's not working, but it wont hurt anything.
A friend of mine ran his Circle track car with no pump, but had the in/out hose looped/connected together with a vent hole in hose. That thing would kill your arms after 10 laps.

605 Steer Box.

Thank you SSedan. Your answer was "Right ON". It does work alot easier with hose loop. By the way, I have elected to install a Borgeson External Pump and reservoir. Ordered thru Jegs. Comes as a Kit and is actually 4inches in size. Getting rid of the Saginaw will be a relief. Thanks Again.
