60's Chevy rearend that looks like a ford 9", please help ID

I have been given a older chevy rear end that is on the narrow side that looks a lot like a Ford 9", does anyone have a clue to what this may be from? It's a 10 bolt on the yoke side and has the numbers GM 23 B157 3725899.

Can't run the numbers for you but it sounds like the Hotchkiss style 8.2" 10 bolt used in '55-'64 full size Chevies and '62 & '63 Novas. The Nova rearend will have 4 lug axles. Definitely NOT a performance rear end but if it's a posi still pretty valuable to someone doing a restoration. A Posi will have a large "P" cast into the front of the carrier housing.

Is it leaf or coil spring ? '55-'57 are leaf and '58-'64 are coil. All '55-'64 full size rears were the same length. They are also almost the exact same length as '64-'67 Chevelle, '67-'69 Camaro and '68-'78 Novas. IIRC they should be about 60-1/4" flange to flange.

It's leaf, so I guess it's from 55-57 generation.

Thanks for all your help. Now I am putting it up for sale.

Almost forgot, '55-'62 Vettes used this rear end also and had leaf springs. Vette maybe ?
