61 chevy charging system

I have a 61 chevy with a 350 that was in it when I bought it.Since then I am having trouble with the charging system. The car I believe originally had a generator system in it and since the motor has been changed, this motor has a alternator in it. I am having a hard time trying to trouble shoot the problem of the battery not staying charged. I had the alternator checked and they say that its ok. Can you tell meor show me in a diagram how the alternator system should be installed to make sure it was put in right. Thanks,Dan

More info is needed, what type of alternator, how old is the battery. The battery could be bad and not holding a charge. I would pull it, have it slow charged and tested then go from there.

Have you checked the charging voltage and current. Have you checked for loads when the car is off.
