Ok, after about 5 years of pondering the thought of this painful task, I took next week off to cut out the outer/ inner rocker panels and floor braces and all four sections of the pan. Does anyone have thoughts to consider before I undertake this task (words of caution is considered this too) and weld the new sections in place.
My thought was to cut out the floor sections first (provided by a template from the new pans) to get access to the braces and inners. One question that has me thinking, can I cut out the rot on the old inner rocker and then weld the new to that, or should the whole inner be removed. As you can guess, I don’t have access to a lift and will be working on this in the shop on four jacks (as high as they will go).
I have done many additions to houses and other mechanical equipment but for some reason I seem a bit terrified to perform this.
Thanks,
Gary
