62 chevy truck turn signal

On a 62 chevy truck manual transmission, the turn signal mechanism is in the column and the turn signal switch is located lower on the outside of the column. Between the two is a cable that runs down the column from inside to the switch. I am in need of that cable. I can get the switch and the plug and have the turn signal parts that go into the column, but do not have the cable to connect the two.

Doc here,

Confused here, are you saying the Stalk handle has a linkage that runs THROUGH the column to a SWITCH at the bottom of the column, then to a body plug?

OR are you saying the stalk handle is PART or the switch AND a Harness runs between it and a Body plug at the bottom..? (this is the most common) and you need the Column harness?

Doc-
The original t/s switch on my 59 had a rod that ran from the "switch area" of the column to the actual switch located near the neutral safety/reverse switch.

I never did look to see how it actually worked--but I think the turn lever actuated the rod and the cancelling cams in the column.
The rod actually ran on the outside of the column (covered by bezels and housings)

(running outside now to check column--cannot check internals--wheel still on)

See pic of 59 column--also man trans--I think his 62 would be the same.
The switch proper is that 6-pin switch--note the cable (I thought it was a rod) from the top to the switch.

If you can find a really small choke type cable---
Lawn mower throttle
Heater cable
(bicycle brake or shift will not work)

You may be able to make something work

Doc here,

Yeah, let me know what you see..I have not run across a "Remote" switch yet..usually the traditional internal harness / Plug arrangement..

62 chevy turn signal

Bryan thanks for the info. I felt all along it was a rod not a cable. Your picture is the same has is on the 62. I will try to come up with some idea of connecting the two. I wish I could come across a book that showed the pictures of how the actuator in the column and the switch on the column connected to each other.
