63 Farilane engine swap question

Hello everyone. I'm trying to get a 63 fairlane on the road and I have to rebuild to engine or buy a new one. The one in there now is a 221 v8, if I have to get a new one I wouldn't mind gettin a bigger one, so my question is what kind of engines can I put in it - it's a 2door Sedan 63 221 v8. I'd like to put at least a 289 in there, does it have to be out of another 63 fairlane? I have no idea - any help or advice is greatly appriciated. I'm new to all this so my apologies if this is a dumb questions. Thanks guys

Early 289s will bolt to your tranny. Chances are, you can get a 302 or 351 just as cheaply, but you will have to change the tranny also....probably a good idea anyways.

I would be going with a 351W.....................

Look at a thread I started asking about which 351 to buy (sorry I don't know how to attach a thread) but go into my profile it was my last thread. I got a lot of good advise regarding which years are the best power wise.
Good Luck,
Fred
