Only if you have more than buckets of cash and an experienced chassis/drive train fabricator...

The most modern corvette trans is the Tremec TR6060 and this mounts to the axle. You would need to convert a viper 6060 over for use in your car. This is quickly in the "buckets of cash" area; although RPM Transmission in Indiana, The Gear Box and several others can do this for you. If you really really want a 6spd, get a T56. However there are ways to alter your Muncie to keep the car as close to original (read: not hack the floorpan) as reasonably possible. There are overdrive ratios; for 4.11s and 4.56s; and there are wide ratios for 3.73s/3.55s and 3.08s/3.23s. Also, there is the possibility of a gearvendors overdrive unit that goes on the back of the trans.

You can get whole new muncies that have stronger cases, and all of the above mentioned exotic gearsets for less than the T56/TR6060+ modifications. This would allow you to slide the original trans under the bench, bolt up a brand new one and be able to enjoy it without ruining its intrinsic value. PM me for more specific muncie information.

Nate
