64-66 Chevy C10 Axle Information And Possible Swap

Hey everyone, I am restoring a 67 Impala, with a 12 bolt and 3.08 rear gears and an open differential. Yesterday I finished building my 355 (350 bored .030 over) and realized that I cannot stand being a"one-wheeler-peeler" with that much power to the wheels. I live out in the country, and there is an old abandoned 64-66 Chevy C10 long box fleetside in the middle of the woods, with the owner most likely deceased. The truck has not been touched in MANY years, but I am taking the appropriate actions to legally purchase it for my own. I have been told (is this correct?) that under that truck would be a 12 bolt rear end, with a true full posi and 3.73 or greater gearing. Is this true? I remember last time I looked at it, it didn't have leafs, it had coils (same as my Impala). Would the rear suspension linkage setup work under my baby? What all would I need to do to drop it under her? The truck would have a 5 on 5 not 5 on 4.75 bolt pattern correct? Sorry for all the questions I'm just tryin to figure it all out. Thank you very much for your time,
Jake Engel

You have "the" rear end for that car- in it already!

Just get a decent posi diff (aftermarket) and the gear set of your choice.

Leave the old truck diff to rot- it is a 12-bolt in name only and is inferior to what you already have.

Not to mention it won't fit and no parts will interchange. 12-bolt car rears and 12-bolt truck rears are totally different.
