64 Chevy Impala throttle cable for quadrajet

OK I am getting closer and closer to being able to drive this car lol. I need someones advice on how to do my throttle linkage for 64 Impala. I have a 454 w quadrajet and a 700r4 trans behind it. The old style gas pedal on the Chevy pushes the rod to the carb. Well the quadrajet looks like its a cable setup to pull the throttle on the carb so i am looking for any ideas to remedy my situation. Any help would be great!

If I remember correctly, the rod still pulls the carb linkage, as does the cable setup.....It will work with your big block....or you could adapt a cable setup from an early 70s GM

If your 64 impala was an original 6 cylinder car the lever coming out of the firewall is probably pointing down and it would push instead of pull. Remove the lever from the splined shaft and replace it so that it is pointing up and towards the front. If the lever has a dog leg in it you may have to cut it apart and weld it back to get the correct shape.

Grind the peg off the qjet for cable setup and it leaves a hole just right for the throttle rod for a 64 impala.

cable

when doing my bucket i looked at all the cables on the mkt.. they were too long and to cut one to fit was throwing money away.. went to a local bicycle shop and got brake cable and the chrome fittings for the ends... alot cheaper and works great.. i have seen walmart carries the cables too.. just another option.

Very user friendly and EZ to set up but will work better with a different pedal because of the way it attaches.Might look at this:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Billet-Throt...sories&vxp=mtr and Lokar Hi Tech 700R4 Kickdown Kit KD 2700HT | eBay

In some cases the Q-jet throttle arm can be used in a "push" application by using (or making) a hole in the throttle arm below the throttle shaft c/l. Thing is, not all Q-jets have that part of the throttle arm, like many later model manual trans apps (example shown below).
