What`s the plan? Do you want to restore it or drop in a engine and use it for a mud runner? hunting truck? If so a 350 small block will suit you fine.
Do you plan to do a build? buy a crate engine? Performance? stock?

im thinking of restoring it because the truck its self is not in bad shape at all only a little surface rust under the passenger door needs new chrome but thats about it but i was thinking about a stock 350 or a 305 so not the original motor but not a power house either but i don't know which trans i should get

Your going to need more than just a tranny. You have to think about the transfer case also. I have a 350 cu in with a TH350 and NP203 transfer and manual lock outs. When un-locked, only the rear drive shaft turns in 2wheel hi and low which saves fuel when on the road.
