64 chevy truck c20

my truck has a gear ratio of 4.wow(not real sure) with a limited slip. is it possible to change that to a lower numerically ratio? if so, how low can i go? i will build or rebuild for the power i need for a lower gear. i do a lot of freeway driving and those gears limit my speed and drink the gas. other than changing out the whole rearend (which i have thought of doing) are there any other choices?

No other choices dude. Its not really that bad a job, get a book and read up on the job and then pull the wheels and then drain the oil by loosening the cover bolts...have a pan ready to catch the drain oil and then pull the C-clips so you can pull the axles...you'll need needle nose pliers/to get ahold of the c-clip.....or a magnetic tool to help here and then drop the drive shaft and remove the rear yoke and pull out the rear-end...then change to any gears you want.changing
