my car has a tbird 390 does anyone know what trans also where would i find a perf kit for it

You have an MX transmission. -TransGo- may have a shift kit for it. You will have to call them.

You didn't state what year 'Bird engine it was, if it is after '66 it's a C-6, if you look at the trans and it has a separate bellhousing it is the Cast Iron cruiso (same as the FMX but with a less desirable valve body setup), if it is all one piece it is the C-6. A quick look will determine which. If it is the cruiso, you'll need to switch to a '66 or later FMX valve body to use a shift kit because the circuitry is different.
