64 galaxie

hey guys i have a 64 galaxie with a 390 i am planning to buy a 73 t-bird to rob the disc brakes off of it what i would to know is if the c-6 bolted to a 460 will interchange with my 390 any help in this matter might help in my decsion in buying the t-bird im also told the spindles will bolt right on is this correct? many thanks willie

390/460 c6

i think the trans should bolt right up,just not 100% sure of this.

460 and 390s use different bellhousing patterns...it won't fit.You need a trans pattern that is for a 352/360/390/410/428 (also 406 and 427s, but they never came with C6s). If you have a cast iron cruiso, you can put a '66 and later FMX valve body with a shift kit in it and have a strong good shifting transmission.The C6 will be found easiest in a '70's era truck with a 360/390

Thanks Woodz,i just could not remember if all the big blocks used the same pattern. glad you corrected my posting.

now if someone could answer his spindle question......?

I believe the spindles will FIT, but I think they have the 5" bolt pattern instead of 4.5". Phil
