64 hawk trunk lid

Got the hawk lid off and stripped today. This had one patch brased on and the other side beat in and filled with bondo. Had no cracks and had not bubbled. If I tryed that it would fall apart in a week. The last body and paint work this car had was done in 1976. It has sat outside some where over the last 30 + years as can be seen by the paint and interrior. Thats in minnesota weather. All the lid had was factory 1964 paint and one cheap single stage repaint, body work was mud with red oxide lacqure primer and no epoxy. And I'am not saying to use it with what we've got today but for those on here that say Lacqure primer wont work we used it years ago and here's living proof it could work. This has held up for more years than a lot of guys on here have been alive. Thats like 36 years. 1976-2012

Hey after all those years and not cracking, you could almost say the bondo earned its right to stay on there...

Great car!

Yep, there is the BEST way and there are ways that work too, they just aren't the BEST.
