65 Corvette shifter linkage

I just imported a '65 Corvette roadster from US to fulfill an old dream. I'm very happy with the car, it's beautiful, fast and is an attention getter for sure. The only thing is that it is pretty hard to engage 1st gear. What do you guys think? Should I buy a rebuild kit for the original shifter linkage or buy a Hurst linkage? I want to keep the original look and they even sell an original looking shifter handle.

Thanks,
Luiz

If the car has a Hurst shifter you can send it back to Hurst and they will make it like new. If the car has a Muncie shifter, you need to get a Hurst.
You may also have a trans synchronizer problem instead of a shifter problem.

I have not considered a syncronizer problem. Maybe it is. Well, it means romoving the gearbox...
